The issues presented here are actually completely consistent, stemming from conservative ideologies, to wit:

Most people make the mistake of thinking conservatives want "small government" (as opposed to libertarians who want self- government). Actually, conservatives believe in limited government only consistent with the enumerated powers in the US Constitution, which, jollyspaniard, specifically lists defense and not, say, education, health care, or energy which are all "implied" and not explicit, under the commerce clause or necessary and proper clause. They believe these are matters best left to the states in accordance with the 9th and 10th amendments.
Their views are less about traditional values than constitutional ones, which all citizens should want.

Now the life issue is also a protected right under the Constitution. If we all agree that murder should be illegal and punishable, then why not murder of an unborn child? Their belief is that a fetus is a human life that yes, does need the mother for life support, but so do many elderly and disabled persons, and we would not want to permit murder of those persons merely because they may be "incomplete bodies" or "not able to survive on their own."

So you see that your argument that there is an inconsistency is based on faulty premises, and therefore fails as fallacious.

Why are so many blacks, including non-religious and strongly democratic, against gay marriage? Traditional isn't relegated to your observation of hard-right conservative whites. The concept of a free market does not expel every form of government. Have you ever read about laissez-faire economics? The gay marriage issue is primarily about gay couples being denied access to government assistance and entitlements. There's no need to redefine an ancient tradition and value-defined institution to grant those things. Why push it that way?

Small governnment is usualy code for giving undesirable elements limited amounts of social support. However the small government types often want massive military spending. Even now in the US there are small government conservatives whining that their country doesn't spend enough on the military.

The small government types bemoan that the government doesn't imprison/execute/assasinate the wikileaks editors. That's actualy calling for an expansion of government.

Hard right conservatives are forced to play all kinds of word games because it's socialy unacceptable to talk about racial domination openly. So instead its wasteful government spending, and preserving traditional (traditional means white and privildged) values.

Just take a look at the comments section of mainstream right wing blogs to see what the base really thinks. They understand the code perfectly well.
